Staying Consistent In The Gym

We’ve all been there. You skip working out one day, it leads to a couple days, and before you know it you’ve been gone for a whole week! It’s easy to get down on yourself and hard to get back into the groove of attending classes regularly, but consistency is key and here are a few tips to help you jump back in!

Get An Accountability Partner!

As cliché as it sounds, this is one of the reasons why CrossFit is so wonderful. It’s the community! Talk to somebody and let them know your goals. Text each other and hold each other accountable. Let them know to reach out if they notice you miss a class, and you do the same for them! You’re not in this alone!

It’s Not ALL or NOTHING!

Be realistic with yourself. For those who haven’t been in a fitness routine for a long time, it’s easy to say, “I’m going to jump in headfirst, I’m going to the gym 6 days a week, starting tomorrow”.

But this isn’t always the best plan or the most realistic.

Set yourself up for success by building up to that goal with a set of smaller goals. Start with: “I’m going to go three days this week” then build on that! This will give you time to adjust to your new lifestyle as well as give your body time to adapt to the workouts. While being in the gym is important in helping you reach your goals, so are those rest days!
